Frequently Asked Questions

In your Rocky Mountaineer final travel documents or dedicated Guest Portal, your itinerary will show which days are 'free' to explore at your leisure. Book your tours on those 'free' days, or add extra days in the Rocky Mountains at the beginning or end of your Rocky Mountaineer journey for more time to explore! Please book at least 7 days in advance to secure your spot.

For Brewster Sightseeing tours: no, our tours range from 6.5 to 14 hours and require a full day for exploring. We recommend booking during your ‘free’ time. Please pay close attention to your arrival and departure times, to avoid rushing or missing a tour.

For Open Top Touring trips: yes! Our tours are 90 minutes long and depart/return from the Mount Royal Hotel in Banff. Please pay close attention to your train arrival and departure times, to avoid rushing or missing a tour.

All Brewster Sightseeing and Open Top tours will include Rocky Mountaineer guests and non-Rocky Mountaineer travelers. Private and customizable tours for groups at Open Top Touring are possible depending on group size; please contact us for more details. We recommend booking as early as possible to ensure your spot.

Brewster Sightseeing and Open Top Touring are experiences by Pursuit, Rocky Mountaineer's third-party partner. Any bookings done through this website will be separate from your Rocky Mountaineer booking. You will receive separate confirmation documents via email from our team when you book with us and any changes/cancellations should be arranged through our Pursuit team.

While both Brewster Sightseeing and Open Top Touring include scenic moments where you will disembark to take in the views or capture photos, neither require any physical activity beyond a stroll. Due to the high altitude of both Banff and Jasper, some guests may find physical activities are slightly more strenuous than usual. If assistance is needed during your tour, please speak with any of our team members, who will be happy to accommodate.

Stops vary depending on the tour, but we schedule stops at all major highlighted locations along the tour route. If there is a significant wildlife sighting, and it's safe to do so, the driver will stop the motor coach so pictures can be taken.

A camera is recommended as well as dressing in layers appropriate for the weather. You are welcome to bring snacks and drinks with you. If your tour ends in a location different from your departure location, be sure to bring along any necessary luggage.

We always recommend that you bring layers with you, even on those warm summer days since some sightseeing stops will be a little cooler than others. Wear some good walking shoes with grip; bring your camera, sunscreen and some light snacks.

Wildlife sightings are very common in the National Park, but we cannot guarantee animal sightings. There are a lot of bears, moose, elk, big horn sheep, mountain goats, deer and more that share the parks with us and because they are in their natural habitat, their sightings are unpredictable.

Not all, if you are interested in joining a tour and require a wheelchair accessible vehicle, please contact us at 1.866.360.8839.
